As you are thinking about retirement, your lifestyle changes may not include the Active 55 plus communities, what then? You can still get some of the amenities in communities that are not “Active 55 Plus” in other”55 Plus” communities, because there are other senior living communities that have a community activity center and a pool but no activities director, for those that may not choose the very active life.
Some others have no such center but are comprised of “senior friendly”, retirement type ranch homes. There are a number of such communities in the surrounding area. In many of these communities, homes are no maintenance, as the exterior maintenance and landscaping is included. These communities are located in areas around the Charlotte area where I work.
One Builder’s Communities have an activities Director that coordinates activities for several communities, in several areas around Charlotte that they have built, to encourage socialization in retirement . Another new home builder builds a small Community Center that has an exercise room, kitchen, recreation room, and a pool for the community, and another just builds a community of homes.
Most of the homes in North and South Carolina are in Home Owner Associations and have been since the 1980’s. When a builder is building over three homes for sale in one place it is considered be in a Subdivision with an HoA. There are many subdivisions that have both 2 story, and single-story homes, with a pool and maybe a community center. Many of those communities have a mixture of children, and adults.
Some retirees choose to be in a more rural real estate setting, which can be accommodated as well but since land is at a premium, the homes for sale are usually located further out in the surrounding counties near Charlotte. They are usually older homes and have larger lots to accommodate the Septic and well, which need more space to operate properly. Contact me for more information or search for your home now.
